Macintosh Print Driver Installation Instructions

The following instructions detail how to install the Xerox^® iGen3^® printer driver on Apple^® Macintosh^® computers. There are two versions available, OSX 10.3 and greater SIT 30.5 MB and OSX 10.2 SIT 30.7 MB.

Installing the Xerox Printer Files

1. Download the appropriate SIT file to your desktop.
2. Unstuff the file using a utility such as StuffIt Expander.
3. Double-click the .DMG icon. A virtual disk image is created on the desktop which is automatically opened to a .mpkg file (installer file). This file will install the PPD, filters and plug-ins associated with the printer you want to install and configure.
   
4. Double-click the “DocuColor.mpkg” icon to open the Installer.
   
5. Follow the instructions in the installer. Click “Continue” at the prompts to proceed with the installation. When you are prompted to install the driver, click “Install”.
   

The printer driver files are copied to the following folders:

• /Library/Printers/Xerox/filter/
• /Library/Printers/Xerox/PDEs/
• /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/<language>.lproj/

After installation, the printer driver is available for configuring with the Macintosh Printer Setup Utility.

Setting up your printer in the Macintosh Printer Setup Utility

1. From the Apple menu, select “System Preferences” to open the “System Preferences” window.
   
2. In the “System Preferences” window, click the “Print & Fax” icon to open the “Print & Fax” window.
   
3. In the “Print & Fax” window, click the “ Printers” button if it is not already selected.
   
4. Click the “Set Up Printers…” button to open the “Printer List” window.
5. In the “Printer List” window click the “Add” button, and then select IP Printing from the pop-up menu at the top of the sheet that appears.
   
6. In the “Printer Address” field, type “0.0.0.0”. In the Queue Name field, type “Xerox_iGen3” From the Printer Model pop-up menu, choose “Xerox”.
   
   
7. In the window that appears at the bottom of the sheet, select “Xerox iGen3…”.
8. Click the “Add” button to add the printer to the Printer List in Printer Setup Utility.
9. Your printer will appear as “Xerox_iGen3 on 0.0.0.0” in the “Printer” pop-up menu of your “Print” dialogue box.
